Position reporting to: NDS Functional Test Manager

Overall Objective

To ensure, as part of a team, that each release of Network Directory Server (NDS) is tested to the highest standard within the timescales provided and to report any problems that may be found. The testing is centred on ensuring that all basic system functions work as detailed in the system requirements. Current and future tests are being developed using an automation framework. This role involves maintenance and further development of this framework in addition to using the framework for testing activities (such as test specification, scripting and execution).

Key Responsibilities:

• Review Test Plans, Test Specifications, and Test Scripts to validate the expected system functionality
• Write and execute Test Cases and Test Scripts
• Raise fault reports when appropriate
• Write Test Reports
• Setup test lab
• Maintain and develop new features for the test automation framework
• Release management of the test automation framework

Person Specification:

Essential Skills:

• At least 1 year’s experience in white box, black box or integration testing
• Experience of testing backend systems, specifically databases
• Knowledge of LDAP, DAP, X.500
• Good knowledge of testing processes and methodologies
• Some test automation knowledge
• Good UNIX shell scripting and/or Perl skills

Desirable Skills and Experience:

• Ability to see and comprehend the big picture

• Experience in understanding, debugging and writing C
• Excellent spoken and written English
