Position reporting to: HLR Development Manager

Overall objective:

We are looking for an experienced Product Test Engineer with 4+ years experience fulfilling the product test role within large software development projects, preferably in a telecoms or enterprise environment.

The HLR product test coverage is based around Non-Functional areas such as Capacity, Installation, Maintenance, Performance, Robustness, Stability, Usability and Upgrade testing on large systems simulating live system scenarios.

Key responsibilities:

• Understand system behaviors and requirements of the area you are responsible for.
• Lead the efforts to automate the HLR product function to improve repeatability and decrease the duration of product test cycles.
• Write Test Plans to validate the expected system functionality.
• Write Test Cases and Test Scripts.
• Execution of the Test Cases.
• Raise faults when appropriate.
• Write Test Reports.
• Setup test lab.

Person specification:

Essential Skills:

• Previous experience testing telecommunications network elements.
• Previous experience in product test automation.
• Excellent knowledge of UNIX and Shell Scripting (Perl).

Desirable Skills:

• Team-leading experience
• Knowledge of troubleshooting methodologies
• Telecoms Knowledge, especially mobile telecoms, GSM, UMTS, HLR, HSS, IMS, CAMEL, MAP, GPRS, Location Based Services and SS7/SIGTRAN,
• Database Experience, especially X.500, Directories, DAP and LDAP,
• Focused, independent thinkers, self-starting team-players would be the ideal applicants.
