SE150 - Technical Support Consultant, Applications

Position located in: Apertio/Nokia Siemens Networks Office, Emersons Green, Bristol
Reporting to: Application Support Team Lead

Functional Requirements:

  • Primarily responsible for providing support to the EMEA based customers and supporting the various regions globally.
  • Analyse and interpret customer problems
  • Analyse system and application level traces to identify problems
  • Work with development teams to provide problem resolution
  • Draft technical responses to customers
  • Manage customer raised problems within the defined SLA boundaries
  • Provide technical work-arounds to customer problems
  • Member of an on-call rota for out of hours customer support issues
  • Occasional travel to customer sites within EMEA.

Technical Knowledge:

In descending order of priority:

  • 3+ years of working with GSM service delivery platforms: HLR, Intelligent Networks, SMSC, VMS
  • Unix Systems (use, installation)
  • Scripting experience (shell, perl)
  • SS7 and SIGTRAN signalling protocols
  • LDAP

Role Experience:

  • Providing a technical role for delivery of Customer support
  • Working with customers and software development teams to provide resolution to customer issues
  • Experience in software support and development

  • Must be self motivated and dynamic
  • Must be willing to take ownership of issues and drive them to a successful resolution
  • Ability to work alone and as part of a team
  • Keen to learn new skills and apply existing skills in new areas
  • Able to set own deadlines and plan how to achieve them
  • Be well organised and approach all tasks in a methodical manner
  • Have experience of working with external customers
  • Excellent written and Oral communication
  • Willing to travel and work away from home at short notice
  • Sets high standards for quality of work
